2. Definitions
- "We", "us", "our" means TREND IT LOCAL.
- "You" means the person using this site or placing an order.
- "Personal information" means information about an identifiable person, as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
- "Site" means this website.
3. Using this site and placing orders
- You must be 18 or older or have the consent of a parent or guardian to place an order.
- Product pictures and descriptions are as accurate as we can make them. Colors may look slightly different on different screens.
- An order is a request to buy. Our contract with you is concluded when we accept your order and send you an order confirmation.
- We may cancel an order if an item is out of stock or a price was shown wrongly in an obvious error. We will tell you and refund anything you have paid.
- You must give us correct and complete details so that we can deliver your order.
4. Prices, clearance stock, and payment
- All prices are in South African rand (ZAR) [and include VAT, if applicable—owner to confirm].
- Our clearance prices or discounts apply while stock lasts or for a specific duration. Clearance stock is limited, and sizes may sell out. We show the price displayed at the time you order, and we will not charge more than that price.
- Payment is made online at checkout through the payment methods shown there: Payments are processed by third-party payment providers. We do not see or store your full card details.
- We keep your goods for you until payment is received.
5. Delivery
Delivery areas, costs, and times are set out on our Delivery page. Delivery times are estimates. If we cannot deliver by the date we agreed with you, or within a reasonable time if no date was agreed, you may contact us and choose to accept the late delivery or cancel the order without penalty, as provided in section 19 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA). Goods stay at our risk until they are delivered to you.
Please check your parcel when it arrives and tell us within [owner to confirm, e.g., 48 hours] if it is damaged or the wrong item.
6. Returns, cancellations, and refunds
6.1 Cooling-off period for online orders
Under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA), you may cancel an online order within 7 days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason and without penalty. To do this, contact us within that time and return the goods in their original, unused condition with tags and packaging. [Owner to confirm: the direct cost of returning the goods is carried by you, as the ECTA allows.] We refund what you paid within 30 days of the date you cancelled.
For hygiene-sensitive items such as underwear, they are not returnable.
6.2 Faulty, unsafe, or not as described goods
Whatever our return policy says, your rights under the CPA stay in place. Goods must be of good quality, in good working order, free of defects and fit for the purpose they are sold for. If goods are unsafe, defective, or do not match their description, you may return them within 7 days of delivery and choose a repair, a replacement, or a refund. Please contact us with your order number and photos of the problem.
6.3 Wrong size or change of mind after the cooling-off period
If you change your mind and want to return the item, you can do so within 7 days by returning it to our address.
6.4 Clearance items
Clearance items are covered by the same rights as full-price items for faulty goods. We will not hide any defect: if an item is a final sale, shop-soiled or a sample, it will say so on the product page.
6.5 How to start a return
Email info@trenditlocal.com, call 087 265 7253 or message us on WhatsApp. Please include your name, order number and reason.
7. Your consumer rights
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002. In line with the CPA, we:
- Display the price of our goods, and do not charge more than the displayed price (section 23);
- Do not give false, misleading, or deceptive descriptions of our goods (sections 24 and 41);
- Write these terms in plain language (section 22).
If you are not happy with how we handled a complaint, you may contact the National Consumer Commission (www.thencc.gov.za) or the dtic Customer Contact Centre on 0861 843 384.

We process personal information because it is needed to conclude or perform your contract, because the law requires it, because we have a legitimate interest in running our business, or because you gave consent. You may withdraw consent at any time. Providing the information needed for an order is voluntary, but we cannot deliver your order without it.
8.4 Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your cart and preferences, keep the site secure, and understand how it is used. These include session cookies (which expire when you close your browser), preference cookies, and security cookies. If we use advertising or remarketing tools such as Meta or Google, they may use cookies to show you our ads on other sites. You can refuse cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site, such as the cart and checkout, may not work.
8.5 Who we share it with
We share personal information only as needed with:
- Shopify, which hosts our online store and checkout;
- payment providers, who process payments under the PCI-DSS security standard;
- courier and delivery companies, so they can deliver your order;
- analytics and advertising providers, to understand site use and show relevant ads;
- authorities or professional advisers, where the law requires it or to protect our legal rights.
These providers may only use your information to provide services to us, and we require them to keep it secure and confidential. We do not sell your personal information.
8.6 Sending information outside South Africa
Some of our providers, including Shopify and analytics or advertising services, store or process data on servers outside South Africa. We only allow this where the recipient is bound by law, a binding agreement, or binding corporate rules that give a similar level of protection to POPIA, where it is needed to perform your contract, or where you have agreed (POPIA section 72). By placing an order you accept that your information may be handled in this way.
8.7 Security and how long we keep your information
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your personal information from loss, damage, and unauthorised access (POPIA section 19). No online method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If your information is accessed by an unauthorized person, we will notify the Information Regulator and you as soon as reasonably possible (POPIA section 22). We keep information only as long as needed for the purpose we collected it for, or as long as the law, a contract, or our lawful business needs require. After that we delete or de-identify it (POPIA section 14).
8.8 Marketing
We send marketing emails, SMS or WhatsApp messages only if you have agreed, or if you are an existing customer and we are promoting similar products of our own, and you were given a chance to object (POPIA section 69). Every marketing message tells you who sent it and how to stop receiving it. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link or by emailing info@trenditlocal.com.
8.9 Your rights
Under POPIA you may:
- ask us, free of charge, whether we hold your personal information, and ask for a copy or description of it (section 23);
- ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date, incomplete, misleading or unlawfully obtained (section 24);
- object to the processing of your information, including for direct marketing (section 11);
- withdraw your consent at any time;

To use these rights, email info@trenditlocal.com with proof of identity. We will respond as soon as reasonably possible.
